When someone suffers a cardiac arrest, prompt action offers their only chance of survival. An immediate 999 call for an ambulance and starting CPR immediately are essential. Most people who survive will have needed a shock from a defibrillator to correct a chaotic heart rhythm.
We’re looking at raising funds to purchase a public access defibrillator (PAD) for Glebelands playing fields. With approximately 3000 people within a 500 meter radius of Glebelands, Ninelands School next door, the sports centre just up the road and the numerous people that use the skate park, play area and playing fields there is a large number of people who, should the awful need ever rise, would be able to access it.
It was only last month that the life of a Rugby League Masters player was saved, just down the road at Methley Rugby club, thanks to a defibrillator. http://www.rugby-league.com/article/39576/masters-players-life-saved-by-defibrillator.
We’re looking at getting some funding from the Danny Jones Defib Fund, but we’ll still have a fair amount to raise.
Defibrillators are very easy to use. Although they don’t all look the same, they all function in broadly the same way. The machine gives clear spoken instructions. You don't need training to use one.
If your able to make a contribution, however large or small, or know someone that could, please visit our Crowdfund page at www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/garforthtigers.
If it saves 1 life, it’s worth it!!
The 2017 season officially kicks off on Saturday for our Open Age team, as they welcome fellow Division 2 team King Cross Park to Glebelands.

Good luck boys!!
It was great to have the Leeds Rhinos Foundation down yesterday carrying out a SkyTry taster session for Year 1 & Year 2 children.
20+ kids turned up to learn some ball skills and play some rugby related games. Even Ronnie the Rhino turned up!
We hope that all the kids enjoyed the session and that they'll be back for the next training session on Friday 24th February in the indoor sports hall at Garforth Academy.
