Wow - what a season it's been this year for Garforth Tigers under 14's!
Some of these young men have been with the club since they were just seven years old and its fantastic to see how much they have grown both physically and mentally into the fantastic team we see today. Regretfully we've lost some good players to other teams but on the flip side, we've had a record signing of seven new players which have all been welcomed in the true spirit of team sportsmanship and Rugby League. We have watched some outstanding individual performances which has led to a number of lads being scouted for various clubs - leading on to one lad earning a scholarship at Castleford Tigers. But more importantly it's been a united team which has earned us the triumph of winning the league with an impressive attack. 400 points scored but even more admirable 100 against us - demonstrating an outstanding defence. We have sadly endured some difficult times both on and off the pitch this season, however the maturity and resilience of the lads is of a credit to the fantastic coaching staff, match day team and the unconditional support of their parents. Can't wait for next season - roll on 2018! From Coaches Chris, Lee, Helen and everyone else in the under 14s support team The club's been working with Garforth & District Lions for the last few months on securing some storage facilities to house our equipment now that we're growing.
This weekend see's the project complete, as we took delivery of our new storage facilities, all thanks to the Lions. A massive "THANK YOU" from everyone at Garforth Tigers. The Lions do so much for Garforth and the surrounding area's. Keep up the good work!!!! www.garforthlions.btck.co.uk When someone suffers a cardiac arrest, prompt action offers their only chance of survival. An immediate 999 call for an ambulance and starting CPR immediately are essential. Most people who survive will have needed a shock from a defibrillator to correct a chaotic heart rhythm.
We’re looking at raising funds to purchase a public access defibrillator (PAD) for Glebelands playing fields. With approximately 3000 people within a 500 meter radius of Glebelands, Ninelands School next door, the sports centre just up the road and the numerous people that use the skate park, play area and playing fields there is a large number of people who, should the awful need ever rise, would be able to access it. It was only last month that the life of a Rugby League Masters player was saved, just down the road at Methley Rugby club, thanks to a defibrillator. http://www.rugby-league.com/article/39576/masters-players-life-saved-by-defibrillator. We’re looking at getting some funding from the Danny Jones Defib Fund, but we’ll still have a fair amount to raise. Defibrillators are very easy to use. Although they don’t all look the same, they all function in broadly the same way. The machine gives clear spoken instructions. You don't need training to use one. If your able to make a contribution, however large or small, or know someone that could, please visit our Crowdfund page at www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/garforthtigers. If it saves 1 life, it’s worth it!! The 2017 season officially kicks off on Saturday for our Open Age team, as they welcome fellow Division 2 team King Cross Park to Glebelands.
With sponsorship from Manning Staintons, Leeds Glass, Aero Cars & Garforth Canton Flavour, see some of the team sporting their new kit for 2017 here. Good luck boys!! |
