Learn new skills. Make new friends. Play Rugby League.
For the 2024 season, anyone in school year 6 (as at Jan 24) can play as an Under 11.
Our sessions focus on the children having fun whilst learning ball skills and about rugby as well as helping develop their own social and physical skills. The aim of Primary Rugby League is to coach to develop first, not to win. Children in this age group do not play competitive games, just "friendlies".

When?
Training is currently on a Tuesday evening at 5:30pm.
Where?
Glebelands Playing Field on Ninelands Lane (our home).
How much is it?
For new players, up to the first 3 training sessions are free. If you're continuing after 3 sessions, you'll need to register your child with both us and The RFL. Part of the registration with the club is setting up your Direct Debit for subs; these are currently £20 per month.
What do I need?
Once you're all signed up and playing games; we'll provide a playing kit. Studded boots will be needed (we may have some spare pairs for those kids who are giving it a try for the first time in the changing rooms but we can't guarantee it). Headguards are strongly recommended to help protect from any grazes and superficial injuries.
Can we just turn up?
Absolutely. All we ask is that a responsible adult stays with the child for the entirety of the session.
More questions?
No worries; check out our new player information page here or just drop us a message via our Contact Us page and we'll get back to you as soon as possible

Primary Rugby League Ethos
Primary Rugby League for most children is their first experience of Rugby League and is a step towards a lifelong involvement with the sport and physical activity. Therefore it is vitally important we instil the correct ethos of fun, enjoyment and development.
Children’s motivations for taking part in sport are very different from adults. As adults we share a responsibility to cater for children’s motivations to make the experiences FUN and ENJOYABLE for ALL children. This is at the heart of being a player-centric sport and encouraging as many children as possible to start, stay and succeed in Rugby League.
The guiding principle of Primary Rugby League is the common thread in all areas - ALL the players play ALL the time and there are no substitutes. Primary Rugby League is modified to increase children’s motivations and involvement in key areas of Rugby League like passing, catching, evading, tackling and scoring trys. Smaller sided games increase skill opportunities considerably and this is beneficial to the development of children.
